The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will honor the powerful voice of soul and gospel by bestowing the Rock Hall Honors award on Inductee Mavis Staples
The new Rock Hall Honors award is sponsored by Klipsch Audio and PNC Bank. A career celebration and full night of music from Mavis takes place at Playhouse Square’s State Theatre at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, September 20, 2019. Mavis will be joined by performers 2004 Inductee Jackson Browne, artist Valerie June and Taylor Goldsmith, lead singer of Dawes, as part of the show.

Mavis Staples, Jackson Browne, Valerie June and Taylor Goldsmith will perform live in concert during the HONORS ceremony.
2004 Hall of Fame Inductee Jackson Browne, American singer, songwriter, pianist, and guitarist who helped define the singer-songwriter movement of the 1970s. Browne wrote reflective, socially aware, intelligent songs that struck a chord with a generation in the throes of change.
Also joining the bill is Valerie June, American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, known for her sound that encompasses folk, blues, gospel, soul, country, Appalachian and bluegrass. June has been hailed by the New York Times as one of America’s “most intriguing, fully formed new talents.”
In 2008, Taylor Goldsmith formed Dawes alongside brother and drummer Griffin Goldsmith and bassist Wylie Gelber with keyboardist Lee Pardini joining in 2015. The band has recorded six studio albums including the recently released, Passwords.
