The Lorain City School District community is unified in the decision to relieve CEO David Hardy Jr. of his duties, according to Board of Education President Mark Ballard.
Ballard confirmed the Academic Distress Commission came to a unanimous 5-0 vote at Wednesday’s meeting to relieve Hardy of his position effective Jan. 3, 2020.
Until then, the ADC is working to set limitations on what duties can fulfill between now and his termination date, according to Ballard.
According to Ballard, the ADC and Board of Education are already in the preliminary interview process to find his replacement.
Ballard said the school board will work with the ADC to find an interim CEO until a permanent one selected by the ADC is hired.
There are at least three potential candidates being interviewed for the permanent CEO position that were past superintendents in Ohio, according to Ballard.
Ballard told 19 News, “it’s a big sigh of relief for the district to be able to move forward” and “get back on track.”
