Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced Tuesday that masks or face coverings are required at polling locations.

LaRose made news last week when he said masks are encouraged but not required. Voters would not be turned away for choosing to not wear a mask, NBC4i reports.

“No Ohioan should be afraid to come and vote,” LaRose said Tuesday.

Ohio residents who show up without a mask will be offered one.

“Just want to make sure that the message goes out loud and clear that masks are required at Ohio voting locations,” LaRose said. “They’re required for both our elections officials and they’re required for the voters who come.”

LaRose announced a state partnership with RB Sigma LLC, an Ohio mask company. RB Sigma will donate 463,000 surgical masks to the state, and distribute the masks to every county board of elections starting August 28, WFMJ reports.

Polls will be open on November 3 at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m.
