A mansion Washington is said to own was searched, using thermal imaging cameras to check inside the walls!

A Beverly Crest mansion that reportedly belongs to Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington was searched after reports of smoke inside the home.

Officials from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived after receiving a 911 call from a resident at the home. The occupants had already safely exited.

DENZEL WASHINGTON WAS A BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF AMERICA YOUTH AT AGE 14

The 28,887-square-foot home was searched, using thermal imaging cameras to look inside the walls.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the smoke may have come from a furnace that was recently serviced.

LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey would not confirm if the house belonged to Washington or if he was present at the time.

Fans on social media responded to the news by blaming the incident on 2020, which has been a challenging year for many. “Me waking up and seeing there was a fire at Denzel Washington’s house,” one fan wrote. “2020 I rebuke you!! Enough!”

Washington is no stranger to being of service to others. He is a highly regarded alumnus of and spokesperson for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and he and his wife, Pauletta Washington, have been involved with fundraising for Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for over 20 years.

In May, Washington stopped to help a homeless man in Los Angeles who was at risk of being struck by a car during a mental health crisis. Occurring during a peak in the coronavirus pandemic, Washington was seen clad in a surgical mask waiting with the man while police came to assist.

In June of 2019, Washington was presented the American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement award by the now-late Chadwick Boseman, who told a story that noted the legendary actor had paid for him to take acting classes at Oxford University in England.

“There is no Black Panther without Denzel Washington,” Boseman told attendees. “And not just because of me. My whole cast, that generation, stands on your shoulders.”
