The “I Remember” singer, Keyshia Cole, finally broke her silence on her mother’s death and paid tribute to the late Frankie Lons on Instagram.

According to People, Cole uploaded a slideshow of photos with her biological mother. She captioned it saying, “This is so hard man. Can’t really even find the words. SMH. I honestly don’t even know how to feel. You can never prepare for something like this… Ever!!! but you will be missed.”

Keyshia appreciated her fans for playing such an important role in her career and personal life. “You have known so much about everything that I’ve experienced and through the struggle of me trying to be there and trying to get my mom right,” stated Cole in a lengthy Instagram video.

“The worst pain ever… Seeing my mama in a body bag on her birthday!” Elite Noel, Cole’s sister, commented. “My heart so fuckin broke.”

“Damn grandma Frankie. I received a phone call on your birthday. I was planning on seeing you this week and I just spoke to you about it,” wrote Frankie’s grand-daughter Zayya. “Happy birthday beautiful and rest in heaven.”

Lons died of a drug overdose on her 61st birthday after battling addiction for years.

According to TMZ, their brother verified that Lons had a relapse at her Oakland residence. Lons had just completed two months of sobriety when this happened.

Despite their tumultuous family history, the family stated that Lons wanted to be remembered as a loving mother who wanted all of her children together.

The world was introduced to Lons when Keyshia Cole and her family began doing more reality television in the early 2000s. Lons had been quite open about her battles with substance abuse and addiction over the years, in the hopes of assisting others experiencing similar problems.

Cole had a rocky relationship with her mother, as the artist was adopted as a child by family friends before eventually patching things up with Lons in later years.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Lons’ family and friends.
