The Columbus Health Department said it is concerning that Columbus and Franklin County are listed as “places to watch,” but the city’s top doctor said there’s probably a reason they are on the list and it may not be obvious to most people.
Health Commissioner Dr. Mysheka Roberts said Central Ohio is on the list of places to watch because the state is testing so many prisoners and since the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is located in Columbus, all of those positive tests are counted for Central Ohio and not necessarily the county where the prison is located.
Roberts also pointed out that even though the report of “places to watch” said Columbus, it did not just mean the city. It meant the entire surrounding area.
