Ne-Yo Revealed He Was Divorcing Crystal Smith on Podcast Before Telling Her!

Crystal Smith says her husband Ne-Yo announced that he was divorcing her on podcast before telling her. According to Smith, she only got to know about the divorce after reading celebrity news sites.

“We weren’t really talking at that time. I chose to leave the relationship because of issues, and at the time I felt like it was to get back at me or to hurt me, or whatever the case may be,” the 34-year-old singer said while speaking on the Tamron Hall Show.

While Ne-Yo later told Smith that he never meant it, she definitely didn’t feel good about it and was so embarrassed.

In February, the 41-year-old made a public statement about the alleged divorce, telling podcast Private Talk with Alexis Texas that he and his wife were parting ways.

“It’s slowly but surely becoming public knowledge that myself and my wife have decided to go ahead and get a divorce,” Ne-Yo said. “There’s nothing bad to say about her. She’s a fantastic woman. She’s the mother of my children, and she’s always gonna be that, and I will always respect her.”

As soon as Smith got these comments after they were picked and published by news outlets, she decided to seek help. She chose to go to therapy, and start dealing with her pain and everything that was going on within her.

“I feel like that was the right step for me to get past it, so whether we were going to be together or not, I had to heal for myself, so I could get up and perform for my kids,” she said.

Smith and Ne-Yo got married in 2016 and share two children, Shaffer Jr and Roman.

The couple later reconciled after Ne-Yo admitted that he wasn’t planning to divorce her. Back in June, they announced that their marriage was back.

“I’m not doing it. I’m going where my home is. I’m going where my heart is. And that was it,” Ne-Yo told host Tamron.
