David Arredondo: Bernie Moreno Campaign Erred In Announcing Endorsement!

The Moreno for Senate campaign was in error when it listed Lorain County Republican Party Chairman David Arredondo as one of more than 100 Ohio GOP leaders and elected officials endorsing Bernie Moreno in his campaign for U.S. Senate.

Arredondo was listed as endorsing Moreno’s primary campaign to be the Republican nominee to try and unseat U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Cleveland, in 2024. Brown has declared he intends to run again.

Arredondo said he, both individually and as chairman of the county party, and the Lorain County GOP do not endorse in Republican primaries.

“It’s on the campaign to vet that. The campaign people know me personally and could have reached out, but they just blindly went with this communication from somebody else and added me to the list,” he said.

The Moreno campaign, which also misspelled Arredondo’s name in the endorsement announcement, has apologized to Arredondo for the mistake, he said.

“It has nothing to do with Bernie. Bernie is a close personal friend of mine, I just can’t endorse him” in the primary, Arredondo said.
