Dear Members of the Cleveland Play House Family, It is with great shock and sadness that I share the news of the passing of our dear friend and Managing Director Kevin Moore. On Saturday, October 24th, Kevin tragically died possibly due to a pulmonary embolism or heart attack. He was 59 years old.

As many of you know, Kevin joined Cleveland Play House in 2007 during a challenging time for our organization. His commitment to CPH and to Greater Cleveland was unwavering. He believed deeply in the unique role theatre can play in building community and in using the power of theatre to promote civil discourse about significant issues.

Kevin cared deeply and personally about the Cleveland Play House family.

Kevin has left indelible marks on our CPH. He was instrumental in the building of the Outcalt and Helen theatres and renovating the Allen for our new home at Playhouse Square and oversaw our move from 85th and Euclid in 2011. In collaboration with Artistic Director Laura Kepley, he guided our centennial celebration in 2015, and the two of them proudly accepted the 2015 Tony Award for Regional Theatre on CPH’s behalf that year. Kevin had been guiding CPH through the extraordinary challenges over the last seven months and had been revising operational and strategic plans continuously so our organization could survive and thrive.

Kevin Moore was a colleague and friend to many in the non-profit sector. Moreover, he was a beloved mentor to countless young professionals who aspired to have careers in the arts industry. His loss will be mourned by the entire Cleveland Play House and Greater Cleveland community.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Baryn, Kevin’s husband, and the rest of the Moore family.

Please keep the Moore Family and the CPH Staff and Board in your thoughts.

Gifts in memory of Kevin Moore may be made to Cleveland Play House via our website or through mail.
